Press F Studios Unveils “TFZP”
A fresh take on wave-based zombie survival, now heading to Early Access in Q1 2027.
Hey, zombie fans! TFZP is the first game from Press F Studios, a three-person indie studio in Cape Town. If you’ve been itching for that classic endless wave survival feel, the good old days of undead chaos, but with more modern gameplay twists, this might just be the game for you. We first revealed it in February 2025. Since then it has grown a lot, so we’ve updated this post with gameplay footage, new screenshots and what’s actually in the build today.
What is TFZP?
TFZP is our way of bringing back the zombie-killing sessions we grew up loving, the late nights of Call of Duty Zombies with friends, mixed with a dash of roguelike unpredictability. You and up to 5 friends drop in with just a pistol and your guts, facing wave after wave of the undead. Rack up points, grab better guns, perks and power-ups, and try to stay alive as things get wilder. Every round cranks up the heat, and side missions pay out powerful bonuses if you’re feeling brave.
Oh, and the name? It’s The F*ing Zombie Project. We couldn’t decide on anything fancy, so we just ran with it. It fits the vibe: raw, fun, and all about getting back to that zombie-slaying goodness. We’re keeping the stuff that made the classics great (tight maps, point progression and that grind for upgrades) while adding new ideas to keep every run fresh.
Watch a full match
Words only go so far. In September 2026 we recorded a full test match from start to finish, so you can see exactly how a run plays out, from the first quiet waves to the moment everything falls apart.

How a run plays
Every match follows the rhythm fans of the genre know by heart: survive the wave, spend your points, prepare for the next one. Early waves give you room to breathe. Later waves don’t. Between rounds you decide how to spend what you’ve earned, and those choices decide how long your squad lasts.
- Endless waves that grow in size and aggression every round.
- Solo or co-op with up to 5 friends in a lobby.
- Points for everything: kills, repairs and objectives all feed your economy.
- Mini-missions mid-match that pay out powerful in-game rewards.
- Perk upgrades that build your character up as the run goes on.
Gear up between waves
Your points are only as good as how you spend them. The support terminal lets you call in weapon drops, ammo pallet drops, blanket artillery and an MG turret when a wave starts to slip away from you. Timing a strike right can turn a wipe into a comeback.

Guns grow with you too. The upgrade bench pushes your favourite weapons further, and with over 50 attachments, from optics and barrels to rifling and muzzles, you can build each gun around the way you play.

Fight for your country
Pick the country you fight for. Every kill, death and revive you rack up counts toward its total. Open the world map to see each country’s top players and the combined stats of everyone fighting under its flag. Every run, solo or with your squad, pushes your nation up the board.
Make your operator yours
Pick your operator in the mission lobby and kit them out the way you want. Rep your country with a flag patch and unlock new camos as you play, so your squad looks the part when the horde arrives.
Blackwell Fields, our debut map
Each map has its own theme and backstory, packed with strategic routes and area-unique gameplay. Our debut map, Blackwell Fields, throws eerie bio-mass samplers that test your nerve and ravenous blood waves that demand quick thinking and quicker reflexes. You can read the world’s backstory, from the day the ground split open and the Upwelling crawled out to the people who still sign up to fight it, in the TFZP lore.
Where TFZP fits
The zombie genre is a crowded battlefield, with standout titles like Killing Floor, Contagion, How to Survive, Dead State and Dead Age, each carving out its own corner of the undead world. TFZP isn’t here to outshine them, but to join the fray with a fresh twist: wave-based survival with the chaotic camaraderie of a CoD Zombies session, plus more modern progression and social mechanics.
Killing Floor ramps up the gore-drenched gunplay, while Contagion builds tension with slow, creeping dread. TFZP finds its rhythm in between, blending fast-paced action with moments of strategy. Unlike survival sims such as Dead State or How to Survive, which dive deep into resource juggling and sprawling stories, we keep things lean and focused on the fight. And where Dead Age opts for turn-based tactics, TFZP thrives in real-time chaos.
Early Access in Q1 2027
TFZP is aiming to launch into Early Access on Steam in Q1 2027, and you can wishlist it on Steam right now. Why we’re making it
At Press F Studios we’re die-hard zombie fanatics who grew up memorising teleporter codes and perfecting kiting routes. TFZP is a commercial game, but first and foremost it’s our passion project, built to reignite that magic and push what an indie zombie shooter can be. Whether you’re a grizzled veteran or a newcomer ready to test your mettle, it’s built to hook you with that blend of nostalgia and new ideas.
It’s not the only thing we’re working on, either. Our second project, TUP: The Unsung Party, is a co-op action combat RPG built around a layered dungeon system. You can see everything we’re building on our homepage.
So grab your squad, stock up on ammo and get ready to fend off the horde. Prepare to press F to pay respects to the zombies you’re about to send back to the grave.
Welcome to the fight.
